WHAT IS AN eSIM?

eSIMs work just like your SIM cards, except you no longer need to physically remove or insert them into your device. One of the latest innovations in SIM technology, eSIMs are electronic chips directly embedded within your device that lets you connect to and switch between networks in a faster and more seamless way. SWITCHING TO eSIM:

If you’re an existing giga customer, you can simply request for an eSIM within the giga app. Open the giga app and go to Mega Menu > SIM Services > Swap to eSIM and then request for an eSIM. As for new giga customers, you can purchase an eSIM by signing up for any of giga’s mobile plans. All our plans are eSIM enabled. Before purchasing your e-SIM, do ensure that your device is eSIM-compatible. 

 

Once you have successfully requested for an eSIM, there are 3 easy ways to install it:
 

1. Automatic Installation
2. QR Code Installation
3. Manual Installation

 

Before you begin your installation, ensure you are connected to WiFi for a stable connection. 

 

FOR iOS DEVICES: 

 

Automatic Installation (RECOMMENDED)

1. Open up your giga app and go to ‘SIM services’ in the menu. Select ‘Swap to eSIM’.
2. You will be presented with 3 different ways to install your eSIM. Select the “Auto-Install” tab.
3. Tap on ‘Install eSIM’ at the bottom of the screen.
4. An ‘Activate SIM’ pop-up will appear. Tap ‘continue’ twice to confirm your installation.
5. Wait for a few minutes until your installation is fully complete. Tap ‘done’ to close the pop-up.
6. If prompted, you can label your newly installed eSIM as ‘giga eSIM’.
7. Set ‘giga eSIM’ as your default line.
8. Return back to the giga app. Tap ‘proceed’ to view your eSIM status, you should have successfully installed your eSIM.

 

QR Code Installation

1. Open up your giga app and go to ‘SIM services’ in the menu. Select ‘Swap to eSIM’.
2. You will be presented with 3 different ways to install your eSIM. Select the “Scan QR” tab.
3. Tap ‘Save to Photos’ to download your unique QR code to your photo gallery.
4. Toggle the button to acknowledge you have saved the QR code and tap ‘go to device settings’.
5. Select ‘Mobile service’ or ‘Cellular’ , then ‘Add eSIM’
6. Tap ‘Use QR code’, ‘Open Photos’ and select your saved giga eSIM QR code.

(If this option is not available, select ‘Scan QR code’ to do a physical scan of your giga eSIM QR code)

1. An ‘Activate SIM’ pop-up will appear. Tap ‘continue’ twice to confirm your installation.
2. Wait a few minutes to complete your installation, then tap ‘Done’.
3. If prompted, you can label your newly installed eSIM as ‘giga eSIM’.
4. Set ‘giga eSIM’ as your default line.
5. Return back to the giga app. Tap ‘proceed’ to view your eSIM status, you should have successfully installed your eSIM.

 

Manual Installation

1. Open up your giga app and go to ‘SIM services’ in the menu. Select ‘Swap to eSIM’.
2. Tap on the SDMP+ code to copy it to your clipboard.
3. Toggle the button at the bottom of the screen and tap ‘go to device settings’
4. Select ‘Mobile service’ or ‘Cellular’ , then ‘Add eSIM’
5. Tap ‘Use QR code’, but instead of going to your photo gallery, select ‘Enter Details Manually’ at the bottom of the screen.
6. Paste the SDMP+ Address and Activation Code you have copied from the giga app.
7. An ‘Activate SIM’ pop-up will appear. Tap ‘continue’ twice to confirm your installation.
8. Wait for a few minutes until your installation is fully complete. Tap ‘done’ to close the pop-up.
9. If prompted, you can label your newly installed eSIM as ‘giga eSIM’.
10. Set ‘giga eSIM’ as your default line.
11. Return back to the giga app. Tap ‘proceed’ to view your eSIM status, you should have successfully installed your eSIM.

 

FOR ANDROID DEVICES:
 

Automatic Installation (RECOMMENDED)

1. Open up your giga app and go to ‘SIM services’ in the menu. Select ‘Swap to eSIM’.
2. You will be presented with 3 different ways to install your eSIM. Select the “Auto-Install” tab.
3. Tap on ‘Install eSIM’ at the bottom of the screen.
4. Tap ‘Allow’ on the pop-up that appears to begin downloading your eSIM in the background.
5. Return back to the giga app.
6. Tap on ‘proceed’ to view your eSIM status. You may need to wait up to 3 minutes for your eSIM installation to be fully completed.
7. Once completed, you will be informed that your eSIM is successfully installed.
    

QR Code Installation

1.  Open up your giga app and go to ‘SIM services’ in the menu. Select ‘Swap to eSIM’.
2. Go to ‘SIM services’ in the menu and select ‘Swap to eSIM’.
3. You will be presented with 3 different ways to install your eSIM. Select the “Scan QR” tab.
4. Tap ‘Save to Photos’ to download your unique QR code to your photo gallery.
5. Toggle the button to acknowledge you have saved the QR code and tap ‘go to device settings’
6. Select ‘Connections’ , then ‘SIM Manager’, then ‘Add eSIM’.
7. Tap ‘Scan QR code’, and select your saved giga eSIM QR code in your photo gallery.
   1. (If this option is not available, select ‘Scan QR code’ to do a physical scan of your giga eSIM QR code)
8. Tap ‘Add’ to allow your device to add the new eSIM. 
9. Wait a few minutes to complete your installation. 
10. Return back to the giga app. Tap ‘proceed’ to view your eSIM status, you should have successfully installed your eSIM.

 

Manual Installation

1. Open up your giga app and go to ‘SIM services’ in the menu. Select ‘Swap to eSIM’.
2. You will be presented with 3 different ways to install your eSIM. Select the “Manual Code” tab.
3. Tap on the SDMP+ code to copy it to your clipboard.
4. Toggle the button at the bottom of the screen and tap ‘go to device settings’
5. Select ‘Connections’ , then ‘SIM Manager’, then ‘Add eSIM’.
6. Tap ‘Scan QR code’, then ‘Enter Activation Code’.
7. Paste the SDMP+ Address and Activation Code you have copied from the giga app.
8. Tap ‘Add’ to allow your device to add the new eSIM. 
9. Wait a few minutes to complete your installation. 
10. Return back to the giga app. Tap ‘proceed’ to view your eSIM status, you should have successfully installed your eSIM.
